I submitted these two illustrations for Kult Magazine’s OBSERVATION issue. The brief was to create a ‘double image’; an artwork that draws the viewer in to spend time with the work, to look harder for hidden objects or a double meaning.

In ‘Just pulling your finger’ my tree roots are reimagined as fingers (my ‘hidden objects’). And, ‘All is one. One is all’ is inspired by Walt Whitman’s dictum: if you observe closely enough even an ordinary blade of grass, you will discover the whole universe. It was an immense pleasure to concoct these pieces for Kult – a fantastic publication.

Both works are created by hand (pencil on paper) and augmented digitally.
